"Mattel Apptivity Batman on the iPad"

A quick search on Actually Mummy will tell you that the words “iPad, iPod and iPhone” occur with relative frequency. Whether it’s the elements of joy on a long car journey, or battles with Daddy for possession of our favourite toy his social media interface, iStuff is never far from our agenda.

The fiercest debate always centres around the iPad. After all, it is much easier to manipulate your Sim, or splat your Angry Birds if you have a larger screen. And any parent who has access to a tablet will know how quickly kids get to grips with the swipe and tap action of an iPad. It’s intuitive. So intuitive, in our case, that we have been known on occasion to manage our way into Mummy’s apps and post our updates to Twitter!

There is seemingly no limit to what you can do with an iPad, and this month sees the launch of Mattel Apptivity, which proves the point with nifty little toys that interact with your app. Favourite toys like Hot Wheels, Angry Birds and Batman move around the screen as you play the free downloadable apps, taking tablet app play to a level even the Bug had not imagined!

Take a look at the video below to see how it works:

And I’ll leave you with one last thought: did you know that 59% of owners play their iPads in bed? Just in case Mummy wanted yet another bedtime delaying tactic to worry about! ;)

The full range of Apptivity toys and free downloadable apps will be available by mid-September. Find out where you can get them on the Mattel Apptivity website.

Wow! This looks awesome! My kids are gonna love it! Although I’m not convinced they should be playing with electronics this often. How much time do others let their kids play with electronic devices like this?

P.S. Me and my hubbie have an ipad each, and yes, we do play with them in bed!!! Its an interesting new form of foreplay!!

Oh wow, this looks so cool. I can see the girls going mad for this, although not sure how much more addicted to the iPad they could be!
