Actually Mummy is written by Helen Wills. Helen is a writer of many voices, most notably in this case, the voice of her daughter GG. This blog began as GG’s diary in 2011. Since then Helen has quietly developed her own opinions on parenting, and these days posts as herself when she feels particularly strongly about something. Not afraid of controversy, she remains – for the most part – quite nice.
Helen is rather fond of sleep. And wine.
Helen is a professional blog and copy writer for several websites. To enquire about her writing and social media account management services email her: firstname.lastname@example.org
The original voice of this blog is GG (our Glib Girl). Our first About Me page had this to say about her:
I am a girl with a mind of my own. I am led to believe that my intelligence is inherited from my parents, but having lived with them for some time I think it is fairly safe to say that I am one of a kind, and that they are from a different planet. I like pink stuff, reading books, designing dresses, and eating lemon sorbet. I am an enthusiastic sharer of my opinions, which include how to deal with common ‘parenting’ issues, and the administration of school matters. Oh, and quite a bit about Ipads.
I live with M&D, and the Bug, who is 3 years younger than me. When he is in my good books he is the ‘Cuddlebug’. I like him best because he wraps himself around me like a bear-cub and gives the best hugs. Most of the time he is just the Bug, because he bugs me.
I am also somewhat of a fidget, and will never sit still for long, and so you will sometimes find me spouting about all the amazing things to do and places to go near me. I try to get out and about for as many hours as there are in the day, but occasionally I miss a real treat (mostly due to Mummy’s annoying propensity to make me go to bed at night) so if you know of something good that I’ve missed, please keep me posted and I will share it with you all. After I’ve insisted on being taken there myself 😉
She also still regularly spouts words that are too long for her. Nowadays we occasionally resort to looking up her utterances in an online dictionary, thus rendering us, her parents, at an ever-increasing disadvantage. We live in hope…
GG is 10 and enjoys books, skiing, surfing and attitude.
Fortunately The Bug has suddenly morphed into a rather cool cookie himself and is now a writer on this site. You will find him posting Wot so Funee? from time to time, as well as recording videos of his progress in school. 2014 saw him conquer his fear of skiing, to the extent that he now leaves us all in the dust (or powder) on the slopes.
The Bug is 7 and loves animals, football, the Wii, and winding up his sister…
We live in Hertfordshire with Actually Daddy. In his other guise he is the Sales and Marketing Director for Thorpe Park, which makes us all rather excitable, for different reasons…
