Letters from Bedtime Bear: Wot so Funee?

Wot So Funee? We went to visit Grandma recently. Naturally our bedtime bears came with us. Every single time we pack to come home, we leave something behind. Last time it was all Mummy’s underwear, in a Florida hotel. The rest of the holiday saw her rinsing her smalls every night and hanging them under the ceiling fan to dry before tomorrow!

This time we left Doudou. He was quite comfy, snuggled under the duvet, but an emergency phone call was put in to Grandma to retrieve him from his cosy hiding place. He sent a couple of emails to Mummy regarding his progression from bed, to box to post office. And he arrived today:

Thank you Grandma, we know how you like to be informed of safe arrivals, so please accept this video of acknowledgement. But we have one question: how exactly did you teach him to write?

Wot So Funee? Now, if you have your own post to link this week, grab the badge code from the sidebar, and click the link below to enter your post – I can’t wait to see what you have! It’s not obligatory, but if you include a link back here in your own post, I’ll return the favour with a tweet-out. If you’re new here you can check out the Wot So Funee? main page for more info.

  1. Ahhh glad you got him back home safe and sound! I would definitely panic more over a much loved teddy than much needed undies!

  2. Lovely of Grandma to mail Bear back home. I completely understand the importance of bedtime stuffed animals for our children though, they did drive me crazy, especially when they went missing.

  3. Ah we had the exact same issue two weeks ago! Bunny had to stay in our room until Royal Mail bought Rhino and the Easter Bunny home! It was heartbreaking, seeing how upset she was 🙁

I’m glad Doudou got home safe and sound xx

  4. That is such a cute idea to have teddy send emails while he’s away! I hope he wasn’t missed too much. Thanks for the link-up!

  5. Well done Grandma and DouDou! Where there’s a will there’s a way and clever little DouDou and his neat writing skills 😉 We would have complete meltdown if we left Mousey behind, I think I check on Mousey’s whereabouts more than my handbag. Glad he is home safe and sound x

    • I panicked the first time we actually lost GG’s bunny. We were on holiday and I had to tell her that Bunny got bored and went home early. Then hubs dropped me off at the toy shop on our way back home and I whizzed in and popped him in her bed before she saw me. She was a wiley one though even then – she just said “Mummy, Bunny got fat…”

  6. I LOVE this! (possibly not surprising – it’s practically a picture book in itself).
What a lovely little bear cub he is – and Doudou’s not bad either…

  7. Welcome home Doudou! We have to carry teddy with us when we go away too and I don’t want to think what would happen if he got left behind!

    • The amount of Bedtime Bears we have for GG – (she wouldn’t leave him at home like the Bug did) is ridiculous. We have ink hat bebear, cut hat bebear, stitched hat bebear and broken nose bebear…

    • Oh they came back with a note alright! A note that said they’d charged me $65 for the privilege of having my knickers back!

  8. Yay for the safe return of DouDou – great video with Bug there too :). At least that bear used his time wisely at Grandma’s. Grace would have a complete and utter meltdown if she left bobo anywhere! 🙂

  9. thank goodness he got the bear back! I know how stessful things get in our house when blue bear goes missing. Had the same situation with my underwear when we stayed spontaneously in Cardiff overnight – luckily it was only one day – can’t imagine having to do that for a whole holiday. xxx

  11. He’s a very clever bear!!
When I was little I had a ‘larry’ that I couldn’t sleep without who once had to be retrieved from an aeroplane about to head back to Italy!

    • I can never remember the TV programme but there was an epic episode which saw several Dads roaming the heath late at night looking for lost cuddlies!
