Rainy day fun for kids: Yes, you can still have fun outdoors when it’s raining…

For most of our half term holidays it rained. Which was a shame, because we were visiting Grandma, and she lives by the beach. Nevertheless going outside is mandatory at some point if Mummy wants her ear-drums in one piece, and her temper neat and tidily packaged. So we went to the park. (Apologies – I was in a procoptious mood).

There are also certain obligatory activities to carry out during a visit to Grandma. We MUST visit the beach and lob stones at the sea, even if our hands freeze. And we MUST eat hot doughnuts from the kiosk, even if we get drenched in the queue.

We did some marketing for Daddy while we were down there:

"Thorpe Park"

And by the time we came home the sun was shining, so we did this, with our new magic outdoor crayons. They wash away in the rain apparently, but we wouldn’t know because it hasn’t rained since we did it. You’re welcome 😉

I also showed that deep down, when I’m not being propconscious , I do love my brother, and it is sometimes all about him:

Finally in the sunshine, Mummy poured her first one of these for the year:

"sparkling wine"

While we got down to breaking in our new football boots:

"football boots"

See? A good outdoor week despite the rain! So we’re joining in with Country Kids again 🙂

  1. That’s what we are like…have to get outside more for my sanity than for my son 🙂 Glad you had a great weekend despite the weather. I think I fancy a doughnut!

  2. Just goes to prove that rain doesn’t stop play! It’s quite evident that regardless of the weather, both your children had lots of fun. Fine voices and some impressive puddle dancing, is that a glass of rose? and your first of the year? amazing! Thanks for coming over and sharing with Country Kids.

  3. It’s my first time on your blog and loving it! Stopping by from the weekend blog hop. I’ve always loved being in the rain and I hope my toddler grows up to love it too, though he hates it now.

  5. Typical half term weather! Crayons and not chalk? I like the sound of that. Fed up with chalking outdoors at work then ending up with children’s dusty handprints ALL OVER MY CLOTHES!!

  6. Hello, Glad you didn’t let the rain put a dampener on the holidays 🙂 The weather really hasn’t been kind to us this year. Those crayons look fab, must look out for them.

    • It’s edited in Photoscape. They have an option to use a template for a collage, much like PicMonkey, but then you can rotate just one image, and use different frames for each of them, then edit the finished picture with additions or frames. It’s good

  8. Glad you got out and made the most of it, gutted we were only down the road and could have said hello at Hertford, it was sunny then. I do love a little video clip to illustrate and set the scene. Far better to let this kind of steam out it the park than in a confined area, lovely singing!

  9. See you are a rain magnet I knew it! All those times we’ve been running across towns in the rain at blogging meets up I thought it was coincidence – now I know it’s you! 😉
